Pioneering Online GACHA: Narita’s Vision Behind Get24

Narita, founder of Get24, shared with us the inspiration behind the groundbreaking online gacha platform. From its Japanese roots to a global phenomenon, Get24 is setting new standards in the world of online GACHA.

How did you come up with the idea for a site like GET24? Was it inspired by the success of gacha in the real world? Or was there another source of inspiration?

In 2019, I thought, “Let’s create a system that gives you immediate results.” In Japan, around 2017, “random packs” started to become popular. You buy something you don’t know what’s inside, and you get a thrill from it. However, this meant that it would take several days from the time of purchase on the online site to the time it arrived at your home.

I thought it would be great if you could buy things online, find out the results online, turn unwanted cards into points, and then buy more GACHA. And so, in 2021, I released a site called Gacha24 (a GACHA site for the Japanese market) as Japan’s first “Online GACHA”. My aim was to find out the results immediately. Here you can convert unwanted items into points, and use those points to play GACHA again.

Could you explain the GET24 random lottery system from a technical perspective? How are the items that users win decided?

We make sure that the items and cards are completely random in the system. Therefore, the odds of winning the prizes are the same. The details are a trade secret, but we offer an equal lottery to all users. Sometimes you get a good card at the beginning.

How do you procure the items and cards introduced on the platform? Do you work with partner companies or specific manufacturers?

We operate three card shops ourselves. In addition to that, we also have three GACHA shops. We buy cards at the card shops and collect them. We buy everyone’s cards at the shops and use them as prizes for GACHA.

What is the procedure for receiving prizes after they have been won? Do users have to pay shipping or additional fees?

Users can choose to either “ship” or “convert to Gem” the items they have won. If they choose to “ship”, we will ship the items within 14 days using FedEx. There is no shipping fee. No additional fees are incurred. To be honest, we would like to charge a shipping fee. However, we are making the shipping fee free in order to get as many people as possible to know about and use Get24. In a few years, we may start charging a shipping fee.

Do you think the online gacha system has the potential to replace the traditional system? What are the main advantages compared to the real-world system?

It is possible because we will always be updating the site. Soon, we are thinking of adding a function that will allow you to “sell” the prizes you win in GACHA. At the moment, you have two options: “send” or “convert to gems”, but we will add a third option: “sell”. We will sell the items on the minny site, and if they sell, we will transfer the money to the seller via PayPal.

Do you think the ability to exchange unwanted items for gems has the potential to be a big change for the gacha industry?

The advantage is that by turning unwanted items into Gems, the amount that users have to pay is reduced. We think that this will be enjoyed by as many users as possible. For this reason, we think that the function of converting items into Gems is a revolution for the GACHA industry. We have also obtained a patent. We will continue to expand the Get24 service and give people all over the world a “heart-pounding” experience.

Did you get the idea from existing Japanese gacha sites, or was Get24 the first to introduce this system online?
Creators of Get24

We were the first to introduce it. I was the one who came up with the idea. The first site was Gacha24, a service for our domestic market. We wanted to make it known to people around the world, so we created Get24, a site for overseas users.

What is the difference between Get24 and similar sites that will appear in the future?

There are four key differences between our site and similar ones that may emerge: we have a patent, we can respond to each individual user in a personalized way, we offer a wide range of products, and we excel in planning capabilities.

We will spread this Online GACHA culture to people all over the world. To do this, we will value communication with each individual user and provide an experience that will satisfy as many users as possible.

What do you think is the reason why Get24 has become so popular in Italy and other countries? Have you adapted the site for an international audience?

I think it’s trust. Because the internet is a service that doesn’t involve face-to-face transactions, we place importance on “equality” so that people will trust us. I think that this is gradually becoming known. There are still many things we can’t handle, such as languages and currencies. However, we are working to gradually adapt to these things.

Do you have any plans for business expansion or international collaboration to bring the online gacha system to a wider audience?

We will continue to expand our business. Last year, we went to the United States to make GACHA known there. Of course, we would also like to do international collaborations. If your company is interested in us, please contact me. Let’s all give people around the world a “heart-pounding” experience!

In your opinion, what do you think the future of online gacha will be like over the next 5 to 10 years? Do you think the evolution of digital technology could completely overshadow the appeal of traditional gacha?

I think that digital evolution will continue to accelerate. However, our goal is to have digital and real GACHA coexist. We are also developing real GACHA. For example, if we can get supermarkets, trading card shops, department stores, etc. to install them, I think that more users will be able to enjoy them in various places.
